Surf Paws Animal is happy to have a new treatment modality available for our patients.

What could Laser therapy do for your pet?

  • Decrease inflammation – activates lymphatic system to decrease swelling
  • Analgesic – affects nerve cells which block pain sensation to the brain
  • Speeds tissue repair and cell growth – penetrates into tissues to accelerate cell repair and growth, tendons and ligaments are repaired faster
  • Improved vascular activity – increases formation of new capillaries in damaged tissue, speeds healing, closes wounds faster and reduces scarring
  • Stimulates acupuncture points – provides non-invasive treatment to stimulate musculoskeletal pain relief
  • Improved nerve function – speeds up process of nerve cell reconnection and increases optimal muscle action

We now have a TEC-Lacer which is a low-level therapeutic laser device.  This machine emits a wavelength of light at different frequencies which delivers light energy to a specific tissue or injury site.

This laser has many different uses.  It can be used at acupuncture points in a similar way to needles being placed at the same spots.  There is also a probe useful for  larger areas that need to be treated.

Many patients can benefit from this therapy.  It can reduce the need for pain medications, especially in arthritic or chronic diseases.  Injured soft tissue, wounds, back pain, kidney issues, and multiple other diseases can be treated.  It is an important tool to aid in rehabilitation of injuries.

Levels of treatment will vary according to the specific problem your pet is dealing with.  Most sessions last about 30 minutes.  They are conducted in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere and are well tolerated by most patients.

Call our clinic at any time for more information or to schedule a consult and treatment.
