February is Dental Month

Package includes: pre-dental exam, complete blood work, and dental cleaning which is an ultrasonic cleaning of teeth, gums and polishing under anesthesia.

Cargill has announced a voluntary recall of the following products in 13 states and 2 territories:  Kansas, Missouri, Northeast Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Western Kentucky, Southeast Indiana, Southern Illinois, Hawaii, and limited areas of Florida, California Guam, and the Virgin Islands. The products may contain higher-than-acceptable levels of aflatoxin, a substance found widely in nature as a result of mold. We are not aware of any dogs getting sick, but are recalling the dry dog food as a precaution.

One lot of Iams dog food has been voluntarily recalled because of  the detection of higher than expected levels of aflatoxin.  So far no dogs have knowingly become sick. According to the official press release,  the food being recalled is Iams ProActive Health Smart Puppy Dry Dog Food.  The affected bags are either 7 lbs, 8 lbs, or 17.5 lbs and have a use by or expiration date of  February 5 or 6, 2013.

Surf Paws Animal is happy to have a new treatment modality available for our patients. Many patients can benefit from this therapy.  It can reduce the need for pain medications, especially in arthritic or chronic diseases.  Injured soft tissue, wounds, back pain, kidney issues, and multiple other diseases can be treated.  It is an important tool to aid in rehabilitation of injuries.
